Medical Assistant w/ CPT 1 

Compensation:  $22 - $25 per hour DOE

Nexus HR is looking for a reliable and patient-focused Medical Assistant with an active CPT I certification to support our primary care clinic in Los Angeles, CA. 

About the Job

The Medical Assistant with CPT I will work closely with physicians and other healthcare staff to support daily clinic operations and patient care. The role requires someone who can effectively balance clinical responsibilities with administrative duties. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, professional, and able to communicate well with patients and the healthcare team. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist physicians and healthcare providers during patient examinations and procedures.

  • Take and document patient vital signs, medical history, and other relevant information.

  • Perform blood draws and specimen collection in accordance with applicable safety and clinical procedures.

  • Prepare patients, examination rooms, and medical equipment for appointments.

  • Label, process, and properly handle laboratory specimens.

  • Assist with basic clinical procedures and provide appropriate patient support.

  • Schedule appointments, update patient records, and assist with other front-office administrative tasks.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).

  • Follow infection control, HIPAA, OSHA, and other applicable healthcare regulations and clinic policies.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized clinical environment.

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a primary care, family medicine, outpatient, or similar clinical setting.

  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred, with a Medical Assistant Diploma

  • Active California CPT I certification/license required.

  • Experience performing venipuncture/blood draws and specimen collection.

  • Knowledge of basic clinical procedures, patient care, infection control, and medical terminology.

  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and basic medical office procedures.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work professionally and compassionately with patients.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
