Compensation: $170K - $190K per year DOE
Overview: Nexus HR is looking for an experienced Physician Assistant to join one of our client’s established pain management practice in Oakland, CA. The provider will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver personalized treatment plans for individuals managing chronic and acute pain.
About the Job
The Physician Assistant in this role will manage a diverse patient population, including a high volume of workers’ compensation cases and Medicare patients. The position involves treating a wide variety of patients with musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, and pain disorders, providing diagnostic evaluations, performing interventional pain management procedures, and developing tailored care plans that combine medication management with alternative therapies. The practice is committed to expanding access to quality pain care while maintaining a patient-first approach.
Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including medical history, physical exams, and diagnostic evaluations under the supervision of a physician.
Develop individualized treatment plans incorporating medication management, interventional procedures, and non-pharmacological therapies.
Interpreting X-rays, MRIs, CT scans, and other imaging.
Perform and assist with interventional pain management procedures such as trigger point, joint, nerve, and soft tissue injections.
Monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans as needed, and ensure continuity of care.
Educate patients and their families on pain management strategies, treatment options, and preventative care.
Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
Document patient care services on the day of service and maintain accurate and timely medical records in compliance with regulatory standards.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years of clinical experience in pain management.
Experience with workers’ compensation cases required.
Graduate of an accredited NP or PA program.
Current and unrestricted NP/PA license in California.
National certification (AANP, ANCC, or NCCPA).
Current BLS/CPR certification.
Active DEA license without restrictions.
Enrolled as a Medicare FFS provider.
Experience with interventional pain management procedures (e.g., injections, nerve blocks) preferred; practice emphasizes procedural and multidisciplinary care.
Competency in patient assessment, diagnosis, and management of acute and chronic pain.
Strong knowledge of evidence-based pain management guidelines and regulations.
Excellent clinical, communication, and documentation skills.
Able to work in the Bay Area.
