Compensation: $22 to $24 per hour DOE
Overview: Nexus HR is looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Medical Assistant (Front/Back Office) with a Certified Phlebotomy Technician I (CPT I) license to support a healthcare clinic in Newman, CA. This on-site role requires at least 3 years of experience, a Medical Assistant diploma, and a CPT I certification. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, be computer literate, and thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented clinical environment.
About the Job:
As a Medical Assistant, you will perform both front and back office duties—ranging from patient intake and administrative tasks to phlebotomy and clinical support. The role requires a strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to follow instructions in a busy healthcare setting. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work directly with the provider(s) to provide quality care to patients.
- Performs diagnostic tests, administers medications, collects/prepares specimens within the scope of practice as directed by a clinician, and practices infection control techniques.
- Prepares patients for appropriate exams/procedures as directed by the assigned provider by escorting patients to exam rooms, measuring vital signs, and properly documenting information obtained through patient records via the EMR system.
- Assist providers in exam rooms and give instructions to patients as instructed by providers.
- Answers telephone inquiries and triage messages from patients and front office staff to physicians and physician assistants.
- Ensures that exam rooms are clean, stocked, and appropriately set up prior to rooming each patient. Assists in maintaining the cleanliness and serviceability of facilities and equipment; performs opening and closing duties.
- Ensures all related reports, labs, and information required are available in patients’ medical records prior to their appointment.
- Upkeeps required compliance logs (temperature logs, cash logs, etc.)
- Properly cares for medical equipment and performs maintenance responsibilities.
- Schedules reschedule and cancel appointments for clinic providers through the EMR system.
- Obtains insurance approvals as appropriate; prepares and updates medical charts and associated records, and enters patient data into files.
- Obtains and verifies patient billing information, as appropriate to the activities of the unit; processes patient accounts, and maintains records.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- At least 3 years of experience as a Medical Assistant.
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Medical Assistant (MA) diploma required; training from an accredited program is a plus.
- Active CPT1 License (required).
- Good communication, sound judgment, and organizational skills.
- Professional, friendly attitude with patients, providers, and staff.
- Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and meet deadlines.
- Must be able to work well under pressure and in a team environment.
- Computer literate with familiarity with medical terminology.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
