Compensation: $130,000 - $155,000 per year DOE

Overview: Nexus HR is looking for a skilled Optometrist to join an eye care center in Hyattsville, MD. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional eye care services in a fast-paced environment, seeing an average of 30 to 40 patients per day. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patients’ vision and overall health. The position requires collaboration with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.

About the Job

The Optometrist must deliver high-quality eye care services, conduct comprehensive eye exams, diagnose and treat a variety of eye conditions, and prescribe corrective lenses or medications as needed. The role also includes pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing eye surgeries, patient education, and maintaining accurate records in compliance with HIPAA. The position requires a professional who can balance patient care with operational efficiency in a fast-paced environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive eye examinations

  • Diagnose and treat various eye conditions and diseases

  • Prescribe corrective lenses and medications as needed

  • Provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing eye surgeries

  • Educate patients on proper eye care techniques

  • Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations

  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care

Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited school of optometry

  • Maryland State licensure to practice optometry

  • Strong knowledge of ocular health, vision disorders, and corrective measures

  • Experience in conducting pediatric and senior eye exams

  • Proficiency in medical coding and electronic health record systems (Epic preferred)

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on patient care and satisfaction

  • Familiarity with aseptic techniques and maintaining a sterile environment

  • Ability to perform basic optometric procedures, such as measuring visual acuity and assessing vital signs

  • Sales skills to recommend appropriate eyewear or vision aids
