Overview: Nexus HR is looking for a skilled and customer-focused Optician to join an advanced eye clinic in Hyattsville, MD. This role requires strong knowledge of optical products and services, along with excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients of all ages, including children and seniors.

About the Job

Nexus HR is hiring on behalf of one of our healthcare clients for an Optician position located in Hyattsville, MD. This role is responsible for helping patients select and properly fit eyewear while providing outstanding customer service in a clinical retail environment. The Optician will work closely with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals to support patient vision needs, maintain accurate medical records, and ensure compliance with HIPAA standards. Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist patients in selecting frames and lenses that meet their vision needs and personal style.

• Conduct fittings and adjustments for eyewear to ensure proper fit and comfort.

• Educate patients on the proper care and use of their eyewear.

• Maintain accurate patient records, including prescriptions and medical history, while adhering to HIPAA regulations.

• Process sales transactions accurately using retail math skills.

• Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.

• Stay informed about new optical products, trends, and technologies in the industry.

• Provide exceptional customer service to enhance patient experience and loyalty.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience as an Optician or in a related field is preferred.

• Strong retail sales experience with a focus on customer service excellence required.

• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training in opticianry or healthcare-related field preferred

• Optician license preferred (if required by state)

• Excellent customer service and retail sales skills

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• High attention to detail and strong organizational ability

• Ability to manage medical records with confidentiality and accuracy

• Knowledge of medical terminology related to ophthalmology is a plus

• Familiarity with retail management practices is advantageous

• Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
